Mara - Adopted February, 2008

June 2008 - Mara's family sent All Dog Rescue an update on their wonderful girl:

Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that Mara is fitting in very well with her new home in Minneapolis!

She's such a sweetheart of a dog, always up for cuddles and hugs. It's tough for us to stick to the rule of "no dogs on the couch" when she jumps up and just plants herself right on your lap with her head on your shoulder!

We've been training with BarkBusters and the results have been incredible. She has all the basics down and understands that the rules are the rules. She responds very well to training, she's a very smart girl and learns quite quickly (although can be a bit stubborn, with amusing results).

We've had so much success with her that she even had her first camping trip this June up on the North Shore of Lake Superior, not only being a natural with getting up some tricky trails on our hikes during the day, but also being on her best behavior at night in our tent.

She's having some issues with out cat (apparently, she likes us a little too much and doesn't want to share!) but with how well she's responded to her training so far, I have faith that she will also overcome this behavior issue. I even hold out the hope that someday, we'll actually get her to stop chasing the squirrels (everyone needs a dream, right?).

So from cuddling up to watch a movie at home, walking with us everywhere around the city, to even climbing to the top of Britton Peak on the North Shore, she's the perfect dog for our lifestyle. She's one of the sweetest dogs we've ever seen, and we adore her. Thank you for finding her and letting us have the opportunity to give her another chance at having a family again.
