Sawyer (Formerly Known as Archie) - Adopted November, 2007

October 2008 - Sawyer's mom sent his foster mom an update on her beautiful boy:

Hi Shelley!

I realized that I haven't updated you in a long time about Sawyer/Archie!

He is doing AWESOME. He's the best dog and it's like he and Cinder were made to be a matched set. He loves his cousin golden retriever Ellie and they play nonstop when we get together.

No more crate issues, leash issues, anything like that. He's got free roam most days and is quite spoiled :) I've attached a photo I took just a couple of days ago

I just wanted to thank you again for letting us adopt him. We really, really love him.

November 2007 - Sawyer's new mom writes:

Thank you for letting Greg, Cinder, and I add Sawyer to our family! We had been looking forever for a second dog, and I think I was obsessively checking Petfinder.com multiple times a day to see what would pop up with a search for "male labrador retriever." We've been fosters for another dog rescue organization for over a year, and it's definitely a different experience being on the applicant's side of the adoption experience! With all the foster dogs coming in and out, we realized that our dog Cinder should have another dog around. She would get so sad when she would lose her playmate when they would be adopted. We knew we wanted to adopt again; Cinder is adopted from the GVHS. We were starting to lose hope that we would find "the" dog when I checked (again) from work and all of a sudden, there was Archie, with All Dog Rescue! I think I sent in our app first, and then called Greg saying "Check this dog out NOW!!!!" We were totally hoping that our application would be considered for him, and we were sure that we were too late on him.....and then we got the word that our application looked good and could we meet Sawyer? Everything all fell into place - we met him at the Chuck and Don's in Bloomington and brought our husky mix girl, Cinder along. I think it was a perfect fit the second Cinder and Sawyer laid eyes on each other - they were wrestling and playing and talking on leash and I think both of them were hoping we would let them off leash and they could really go! It took about 3 seconds and we know that we had to adopt him! We finalized the following Sunday night when I came back from Chicago, and things have been wonderful ever since.

Sawyer settled in right away, and Cinder showed him the ropes of the house - how to properly beg by placing your head on someone's knee and making a soft (and super sad) whine, how to body slam the door to get us to let them outside, and how to play Wrestlemania. The two kids play all day long, and then they power nap and then play some more! We just got their Christmas presents early - new beds for both of them and Sawyer "knew" which one was his right away and promptly rolled and stamped it into the perfect shape. He's very affectionate and has that husky streak where you can tell he's wondering "When she says 'Sit' does that mean now?" I have no idea where he came from before he ended up with All Dog, but someone really missed out on an awesome dog. He knows a ton of commands, is friendly to everyone, and just blended right into our family. We can't imagine what it would be like without him now. HE and Cinder are super bonded and she gets jealous when he plays with other dogs at the park or if her "cousin" Ellie comes over. Sawyer starts obedience on Dec 9, and I'm sure he'll just fly through that.

We could pretty much go on and on about how much we love Sawyer, so I'll stop now! Thanks to All Dog and Sawyer's foster mom, Shelley for picking us! There are a bunch of pics attached - the first is from the first day Sawyer came home, then a bunch of the two playing, and then one with Sawyer, Cinder, and their cousin Ellie (also an adopted dog).
